Cabassa Safaris is a premium African hunting safari outfitter with an operation that covers South Africa (where our story began), Mozambique and Namibia. First established by Johan van Zyl in 1994 the Cabassa Safaris story is a testimony to where determination and resilience can lead you. Johan recalls the trying times of operating a safari company with little to no resources but with strength of character and pure resoluteness a successful safari operator emerged. Hardus van Zy (Johans son) expended the business to Mozambique in 2011 and our free roaming hunting experiences were born. These same attributes of hard work and determination have been instilled in Hardus and the family legacy continues today. Whether you are looking into hunting The Big 5, dangerous game, plains game, the Tiny 10, wing shooting or night hunting we have the concessions to get you your trophies.
With over 28 years of experience hunting these magnificent creatures, we guarantee that ours is the big cat experience you've been looking for. The adventure begins in Lichinga, a city in Northern Mozambique. From there we embark on a four to five-hour drive to Manda wilderness. The tented camp is equipped with all the necessary amenities to make your stay comfortable. Manda wilderness harbours a bountiful population of leopard that we hunt on bait from natural makeshift blinds. Leopard hunting is a great opportunity to bag some additional species as we will require fresh meat for the various baits. Days are largely made up of checking those baits as it is vital that as soon as a shootable Tom is on a bait, we take action. Known for being withdrawn and timorous it takes one mistake for a leopard to never return to a bait again. Our leopards are largely day time cats meaning there is a high chance that we will be presented with a shot opportunity at either dusk or dawn. Watching these cats interact with the bait in the light is its own experience all together. Our leopards are exportable to the USA under a CITES permit.
