Cabassa Safaris is a premium African hunting safari outfitter with an operation that covers South Africa (where our story began), Mozambique and Namibia. First established by Johan van Zyl in 1994 the Cabassa Safaris story is a testimony to where determination and resilience can lead you. Johan recalls the trying times of operating a safari company with little to no resources but with strength of character and pure resoluteness a successful safari operator emerged. Hardus van Zy (Johans son) expended the business to Mozambique in 2011 and our free roaming hunting experiences were born. These same attributes of hard work and determination have been instilled in Hardus and the family legacy continues today. Experience Overview

Our adventure begins in Lichinga, a city in Northern Mozambique. From there we embark on a four to five-hour drive to Manda wilderness. The tented camp is equipped with all the necessary amenities to make your stay comfortable. We hunt cape buffalo on their own terms on over one million acres of unfenced, free-roaming wilderness. With the guidance of a professional hunter and team of trackers, days are filled with scouting for fresh buffalo tracks. The trackers determine whether or not a track is worth pursuing based on the size and the time passed since it was made. Stalks can be anywhere between 1-15 miles long, this depends on the terrain and the behaviour of the buffalo. The buffalo that we hunt are loan bulls, or dugga doys (mud boys) that have been kicked out of the mating herds. Once we've caught up with them, if the buffalo does not meet the required criteria, the process starts over. We will be looking for a specimen that meets your preference, whether it's age or length. The local wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, and various antelope species, provide an unforgettable safari experience and additional hunting opportunities.
